What does oak wilt management look like at campus scale?
It starts with the calendar. Texas A&M Forest Service advises against pruning or wounding oaks February through June; the safe window is July through January, with November through January ideal. On top of that: immediate wound painting year-round, removing and properly handling infected red oaks, and trenching to sever root grafts where a center of infection is spreading through connected live oaks.
